A passkey lets you sign in using your device’s built-in security — Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello, or your phone’s screen lock — instead of typing a password. Passkeys are phishing-resistant and unique to each site, so they can’t be reused or stolen the way passwords can.

Setting up a passkey

1

Open security settings

2

Add a passkey

Click Add passkey in the Passkeys section.
3

Confirm your password

You’ll be asked to confirm your password the first time you add a passkey, or after a few hours have passed since your last confirmation.
4

Name your passkey

Give it a name you’ll recognize later, like “MacBook Pro” or “Work iPhone”. This helps you identify it if you ever need to remove it.
5

Approve with your device

Your browser will prompt you to approve with your fingerprint, face, or device PIN. Once you approve, the passkey is saved.
We recommend adding a passkey on more than one device — for example, your laptop and your phone — so you always have a way to sign in if one device is unavailable.

Signing in with a passkey

On the sign-in page, click Continue with a passkey. Your browser will show the passkeys saved for VexiData — pick the one you want to use and approve with your device. If your passkey is saved on a different device (like your phone), choose Use a different device in the browser prompt and scan the QR code with that device. You may also see your passkey appear as a suggestion when you focus the email field — picking it there signs you in directly.

Removing a passkey

Go to Settings > Security, find the passkey you want to remove, and click Remove. You’ll be asked to confirm your password.

If you only sign in with Google or GitHub

You need to set a password before you can add a passkey. This way, if you ever lose your passkey-enabled devices, you’ll still have a way to sign in.
Go to Settings > Security, set a password under the Password section, and then add your passkey.

Lost your device?

If you lose access to a device with a passkey on it:
  • Sign in from another device that has a passkey for your account, then remove the lost device’s passkey from Settings > Security.
  • Sign in with your password (and 2FA, if enabled) from any device, then remove the lost passkey.
  • If you can’t sign in any other way, contact support.
