Prerequisites
- A VexiData account with at least one connected databaseConnect a database
- A ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Enterprise account (MCP requires a paid subscription)
Connection Steps#
Open ChatGPT Settings
Go to ChatGPT and click on your name in the bottom left corner of the screen. In the dialog that opens, click Settings.
Navigate to Apps
In the Settings modal, click on Apps in the left sidebar to access the MCP apps configuration.
Create a New App
Click the Create App button to add a new MCP integration.
Configure the VexiData App
Fill in the following details in the app creation modal:
Name: VexiData
Description: VexiData database integration (optional)
MCP Server URL: https://api.vexidata.com/mcpConfirm and Create
Click I understand and want to continue to acknowledge the MCP connection, then click Create to finalize the app.
Authorize VexiData
You'll be redirected to VexiData's authorization page. Review the permissions and click Approve to grant ChatGPT access to your databases.
Return to ChatGPT
After authorization, you'll be redirected back to ChatGPT. The VexiData integration is now active and ready to use.
MCP Server URL
Make sure to use the exact URL: https://api.vexidata.com/mcp — this is the official VexiData MCP endpoint.
Using VexiData in ChatGPT#
Once connected, you can ask ChatGPT questions about your data. VexiData will translate your natural language queries into SQL and return the results.
Example prompts:
- "Show me all orders from last month"
- "What are my top 10 customers by revenue?"
- "How many users signed up this week?"
- "Create a chart of monthly sales for 2024"
Managing Your Connection#
You can manage or disconnect the ChatGPT integration at any time from your VexiData settings:
1. Go to Settings in VexiData
2. Click on Security
3. Click on the AI Connections tab
4. Find ChatGPT in the list and click Disconnect if needed
