# Business Metrics

> View AI-discovered business metrics from your database schema.

After VexiData analyzes your database, it automatically discovers business metrics — key performance indicators inferred from your table structures and data patterns.

## How metrics are discovered

During the **Building metrics** sync step, VexiData examines your schema to identify common business patterns like:

* Revenue and financial totals
* User signups and growth trends
* Order volumes and conversion rates
* Activity counts and engagement metrics

These metrics help VexiData generate more relevant dashboards when you ask questions about your data.

## Viewing your metrics

1. Go to [Data Sources](https://vexidata.com/data-sources)
2. Click the menu icon on a connection with **AI Ready** status
3. Select **Business metrics**

## How metrics are used

When you generate a dashboard, VexiData uses discovered metrics to:

* Suggest relevant questions on the dashboard page
* Choose appropriate chart types and aggregations
* Understand which tables and columns represent key business data
* Provide more accurate answers to natural language queries
