# Two-Factor Authentication

> Secure your account with two-factor authentication (2FA).

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a code from an authenticator app in addition to your password.

## Enabling 2FA

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open security settings">
    Go to [Settings > Security](https://vexidata.com/settings/security).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enable two-factor authentication">
    Click **Enable** in the two-factor authentication section. You'll be asked to confirm your password.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Scan the QR code">
    Open your authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password) and scan the QR code displayed on screen.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the verification code">
    Type the 6-digit code from your authenticator app to confirm setup.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save your recovery codes">
    VexiData will display a set of recovery codes. Save these in a secure place — they're the only way to access your account if you lose your authenticator device.

      Each recovery code can only be used once. Store them somewhere safe like a password manager.

## Disabling 2FA

Go to [Settings > Security](https://vexidata.com/settings/security) and click **Disable** in the two-factor authentication section. You'll need to confirm your password.

## Lost your authenticator?

If you've lost access to your authenticator app, use one of your recovery codes to log in. After logging in, you can disable and re-enable 2FA to set up a new device.
